Hello ,

Have you Checked there is fuel at lift pump and at injectors ?
bleed fuel filter checked rear sedimeter by rear wheel ?
Checked sender unit ?

i should of done that really but as i know the car and whats been done to it i thought id be ok big mistake lol

hi russ just to inform you ive gone through the fuel system and the lift pump is working as the filter is the stop solenoid is also working and the pump is putting fuel to the injectors so no problems with the fuel side of things but its still not starting it just turning over and not firing is there anything else you could suggest what to look at thanks very much

I would lean towards head gasket or poor compression . HG fails are common on tdi's and nothing to worry about done one on my disco before Christmas and just finishing my dads 110.

I'm sure someone else will be along to correct me ?

Did you catch what your oil temperature was when she went poof?

Could it be a reduced intake of air? This could push your air fuel ratio down in the same way that increased fuel would. With a turbo that hot, your outlet temperature must have been pretty high!

no i didn't but there was no sings of overheating as the temp gauge was sat at normal no unsuspecting noises either

Is there any exhaust gas coming out the exhaust
with the turbo getting that hot there could be a restriction
In the intake (as mentioned ) or the exhaust baffles have collapsed and causing to much back pressure

just a wild stab in the dark as ive seen that happen :)

just checked now and theres plenty of back pressure coming from the exhaust but thanks for the advice

the timing belt is worth a check
wip the the rocker box off and spin it over to check the vales move. if good
check the the timing marks line up to eliminate belt slip

yeah i was thinking along them lines to be honest ive looked through the oil cap and can see the valves moving

If the turbo was glowing red hot,as you said, and the engine just stopped,it would seem to me,that it has suffered internal damage, you have been given some great advice by a landy guru, jamesmartin, take it mate.;),or get a compression test done,to see if the pistons/rings or valves are still doing their job.
