would you believe it, gearbox has gone again, I have had it looked at and the synchros are gone, leading me to think that the guy only did a bear minimum fix to get it away, and never changed them in the recon of the box, very very hacked off

Chuck it straight back at the garage and either demand a refund on the vehicle or they fix it. Read the crock of **** thread.

How long was the guarantee? time, mileage?

looks like it has been over a year since it was replaced,

Hope it is not too hard to get fixed.

Cheers

Interesting point Datatek,

What would be considered normal for a recon gearbox? Regardin guarantee etc. If it was replaced and defined as reconned not just a 2nd hand replacement?

Gets into a messy area regarding mileage, service intervals, what was agreed at the original point of sale, but still it cannot hurt to try and see what the OP can get done.

Cheers

in view of the time involved , you are not going to get anywhere with a claim on that garage , most recon gearboxes only get 6 months to a year at best . If you want 3 years + warranty on vehicles you need to buy new from a manufacturer .

I know the sale of goods like the back of my hand, that's how I got it fixed in the first place, I am afraid tacr2man is right, after 12 months plus, I am stuffed

I need to have it correctly fixed which I don't think I can do myself, or a separate second-hand box which cheapest price I have so far is £425 for the box plus fitting which will be about £290 for a days work

how hard is it to change yourself with a bit of common sense and a friend who can lift heavy things?
