Hi all,

I've took the the plunge last month and bought my first Land Rover, a Defender 90 TD5. I'm loving it so far, and have done a little light green laning to put it through it's paces.

Here's a pic:eek::)

Hi!

Well, it conked out and wouldn't restart. Seems the ECU is borked (topside switch and open injector faults reported).

All part of the LR experience, I guess ;)

Welcome:).

Baptism of land rover strikes again;)
Glad to here you seem to still have your sense of humor you will learn that you need buckets of it owning a landy:D.

Good luck with the fix, but you would save a bunch of beer tokens, to spend on tools by doing it yourself:D.

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm not sure about attempting an ECU repair myself, but I may have a proper look later to see if I can find any info / instructions about the repair procedure.

At least the time off the road will give me a chance to get the exhaust manifold sorted :)

Did you get it wet?
Nope, the manifold has been blowing for a few weeks, before I even took it off road. It does have a stage 1 remap from Alive, and I hear that can often cause the manifold to warp. I've been recommended a local company who will skim it for not much money, and am confident I can remove and refit (thanks YouTube!)

Fingers crossed

I not saying you attempt the repair of the ECU, But if you are the 1 sending it off then thats great, you are saving beer tokens for tools:).

Are you sending the ECU to Alive to be fixed?

J
No can do. I spoke to them, and they said that they cannot fix the particular faults that I have. Empire said that they can usually fix these problems, but not always. I need to have a proper look into it later - I might just buy a used one from eBay and transfer the map etc across.

Ok sounds like you are on top of it, was just concerned you sent it somewhere and they basically just sent you back a standard 1.
