Got a 2004 Disco TD5. One remote key has packed up. Been quoted £200
by dealer for new key and reprogram.
Does anyone know if I can just reprogram a separate remote fob, as this would not bother me having a separate fob.
If not anyone know of a decent Land Rover specialist near Oxford that could help.

One of my keys packed up last week - when I was away from home in the lakes with no chance of getting my spare. I wasn't sure what the problem was as it would lock OK but wouldn't open! So I tried just to use the old fashioned method of locking/unlocking with the door locks - however, the alarm kept going off - with lots of ramblers wondering why a family of 4 were pinching a 2003 Disco!!!

Thinking it maybe the battery I took the thing apart and found that the tiny switch which sits under the rubber button had one of its connections snapped off - how I can't fathom - moving it slightly it snapped off altogether. There as no room to solder the thing back on, so I held it on the contacts, made sure it was working (led lighting up) got my wife's nail varnish (wasn't even the weekend) and carefully glued the thing on - hey presto working better than ever.

Hope this may help - its worth a try.

Try MID Engineering (01235771114) just south of Wantage. They're a bit cheaper than dealers and seem a good bunch of guys. A lot of Disco's round here have their wheel covers on the spare!

Cheers!
