I have just bought a 90 4c sw dt I have no idea what engine is in it.i bought it none running the engine look very clean . Clock says 44000 but I don't believe that but . Anyway is there anyway to tell what engine is in it and if it is the original what bhp were these or is it better to replace with a 200tdi/300.I don't think the engines a gonner it very clean the young lad I got it from has been mucking about with it. So are these engines any good or is 4days till 40mph.

Thanks in advance andy

Best to show us a photo of the engine. If it is a non turbo 2.5 N/A, they are strong and can last a long time, but acceleration will seem slow compared to a modern car. In good order, a top speed of 60mph can be expected, but it will take a while to get there, and it will struggle to hold 50 on any kind of a hill. A TDI conversion will transform the performance to close to that of a modern car, although these were never designed to be high speed cruisers.

Thanks guys think it's the 19j[GALLERY=]
