Welcome aboard buddy, I'd say tyres ought to be your starting point, as your vehicle looks to be on road tyres and your pictures shows it on muddy terrain. As for tyre sizes / choices, you are looking at an all terrain or a mud tyre in anything upto 225/75/16 or 235/70/16. I've got two sets of wheels for my hippo, one with each of those sizes on them, the 225's are full mud kumho KL71's and the 235's are (old) BFG All Terrains. Thats as big as you can fit to a freelander without spacers, as those sizes are only a whisker under the spring seat on the shock absorbers.

PS: - either of those two sizes I mentioned in my last post are going to give you about an inch and a half (~40mm) lift as a nice little bonus, the suspension lift kits can give you upto another 50mm lift.

The best mod is to make sure the AWD system is working correctly, and the VCU hasn't started to stiffen, otherwise the IRD could grenade itself.

It's always best to make it work correctly, before spending on frivolity's.

Already done.

As long as the AWD system is sorted, then decent tyres would be my first step. Tyre are the only contact the vehicle has with the ground beneath, so make the biggest difference in off road ability.

Technical inspection was done 2 months ago.The car is in a perfect condition. The engine is running good everything is in order.Just don t know what to do now.

Did that include an LR approved VCU check? Most places don't have a clue on how to check the VCU, and that includes most LR main dealers. Only Freelander specialists know what and how to check the AWD system correctly.

lol, I hope you are correct that it had a good inspection and the car is sound. Saying it is "perfect" rather implies blind faith - because I'd be amazed to find a car approaching 20 years old in perfect condition.

I had an AA inspection on a car that I bought (it was a long way from home and I had to travel to pick it up). That came back and said it was in good condition, but 3 weeks after buying it, it was scrapped!

Would be interesting to see what data they have to show the VCU/IRD/transmission is in 'perfect' condition.

As stated though, unless you want tyres that can't fit the standard geometry, they will get most bang for your buck. Beware spacers, make sure they are safe.
