first post so hi to all you guys. just bought myself an n reg 4.6 se. always wanted one and it was cheap enough as it has its flaws. The main things i need help with is central locking, i have one remote and when i press the right button, the hazards flash but nothing happens. Also, when i try to lock the doors with the key, only the drivers door responds, all the rest stap unlocked.

I also have problems with my EAS but until my diagnostic ebay crap turns up im not sure what they are.

Any help will be most appreciated.
:) Gareth

Download the RAVE manuals central locking can be a problem to fix. You jumped the gun ordering EASunlock from Egay. A member on here (Datatek) will do you the cable, software and RAVE manuals for around £11.00 plus post from France.

dowloaded RAVE manuals last night. I was wondering wether to ask on here but seeing as im new i didn't want to take the ****. And besides, it only cost me £20 delivered so im fairly happy

Ok for central locking goto Electrical trouble shooting manuals and look for circuit diagrams and fuses you need to check. I will be surprised if it's just a fuse though.

:welcome2:

Have you tried locking the doors with the key (turn it to lock only ONCE mind or else you will go into superlock and thats a pain in the ar$e)??

If all the doors respond to locking on the key, it is something in the remote C/L system....

If only the drivers door locks, then this could indicate a problem with the door lock microswitch (this switch tells the BeCM - Body Electrical Control Module - that the door has been locked and to lock all the other doors too) check for a secure fitment of the plug on the BeCM under the drivers seat too....

Good luck with it, let us all know how you get on.

thanks for your replies, Andrealouisea, my eas is doing absolutely nothing, i can hear what sounds like the compressor if i turn the ignition on with the door open, but thats all i hear :/

Saint.V8, when i turn the key left in the door lock, just the drivers door locks, the others stay as they are. if i use the remote, nothing happens although if i press the right button, the hazards flash and the interior light illuminates. the drivers door handle is also innop so maybe this could be related? i will have to check tomorrow as ive just spent an hour in the cold fitting a new passenger front window

A major leak, probably from an airspring and/or the compressor is shot:eek:
Make sure what you can hear is the EAS compressor not the Wabco brake pump.

are these both in the same area? where should i be listening under the bonnet. compressor is on the right hand side as i stand in front?

Compressor is in the plastic box marked EAS on the right as you stand in front of the car facing the engine, Wabco pump is on the left side between the fuse box and the bulkhead:)

#Bingo was his name-o#:D

ok so it seems that its not the compressor i can hear at all. so does this hint that i will need new one or is there anything else it could be?

It could be one of many things. Get your lead and your EAS software and see if you can get the pump to operate using that. Then come and report back. Datatek is an EAS guru, We've just sorted ours - It's a question of being methodical and testing one thing at a time

The compressor will not run if the EAS has logged a hard fault. When you start the car if the 4 vertical lights in the EAS display are alight and you have an up arrow in the dash plus a slow 35mph message you have a hard fault. That can be caused by no air pressure due to a leak or a height sensor for example. Before you do anything, read and clear the faults then re-read and see what comes back:) If the airsprings are original they will need replacing as they will be leaking:(

You do have a USB to Serial adaptor or a laptop with serial port as this will be needed...!!

It can be a pig to run on Win 7, XP is best, and make sure you get the most up to date drivers for the USB adaptor as oftentimes communication problems can ensue...

the lights on the switch were on and it does say EAS fault on the screen however it doesn't say max 35mph?
