...the inside is a suprisingly wonderful place.... not only is it clean, tidy and extremely comfortable it has every toy that I think Land Rover ever put in a Range Rover back then - cruise control, heated/electric adjustable seats, electric sun roof, air-con, electric windows/mirrors/etc.... even found out today that there is a full original Clarion multichanger system in the boot with a Bass box, along with original jack tools and wheel chocks!!!

Got him up on the ramps in my mates garage (he's an absolute LR/RR guru) and he gave it the full once over..... turns out the engine, auto-box and chassis are in great nick, unfortunately the smell of fuel that I had noticed when I got him was due to corroded pipes at the rear end (so he replaced those as the amount of fuel being lost was similar to what the engine was likely using, so not too helpful on the consumption figures!).... various areas of rot within the body in the usual areas and both sills are bent and will need replacing if I put him through another MOT?

So what to do with him then????? - well I think that I will use him for RTV trialling and weekend run around until the current MOT runs out, then strip him down to rolling chassis, engine and transmission and rebuild with a series body (likely 88") at which point I will need to decide to go the full IVA route to make road legal and continue with RTV trials... or turn into CCV???????

Finally weigh in the remains of the body and sell whatever bits that are useful to others - well that's today's plan anyway...as we all know tomorrow is another day!!!!

the SE is trimmed to rival modern motors. Although i had the baby poo brown leather seats. Did want the light grey.but, again shut ya eyes...

Sounds like we got the same motor - Grey interior would have been nice but - Sh*t Brown doesn't show the mud so much I s'pose:)

Who the hell takes a 3.5 EFi on the Gumball? Brilliant. If it was a sensible owner then they would have had a lot sorted before setting off across Europe so you probably won;t experience too many issues in that regard going forward (not wanting to jinx you).

Do you know which year it was taken on and if it placed/who drove it?

Anyway, keep the sticker if your a playboy! :)

It'll be worth checking when the auto box was last serviced. If it's been some time the sort of speeds she would have been running on Gumball and distances means ity may have sludged a little. Had mine done last month and it was so think the oil wasn't passing across the filter!

Otherwise lovely colour and looks good apart from that side wall rubbing! ;)

check the FAQs for the 4hp22 autobox on ashcrofts website before changing the oil as it can cause the need for a rebuilt box much quicker than otherwises needed and thats about 1-1.5k you dont need to spend out on an old girl like that.

I know, it happended to me!

Not sure if the Gumball sticker is genuine or not (would love to believe it is though)...as for acting the playboy... where I live if you don't wear wellies then you're considered a playboy anyway!!!!
