Hello and once more i write to seek advice!

I have a 96' P38 4.0 SE auto, Just replaced the under bonnet fuse box due to strange noises, etc.. and put back together with all the old relays but new fuses. The first time i tried to turn it over it wouldn't start just a load of crazy messages in particular gearbox fault. Then left it a minute and tried again - started and ran lovely on a short drive, and was over the moon. About 15 minutes later realising i needed a lottery ticket i went back to the car and it wouldn't start - same crazy messages and no cranking of the engine. I have left it there for the day!

Anyway once again i seek the advice of you folks.

O.K. The simple questions first.
Was it a NEW fusebox that you fitted?
Is it definitely the correct box? The P38 had a few different ones.
Is there any sign of damage to the board, has it been dropped or bent?
Did you take any photographs of the old board before you started all this? Just to make sure that everything's in the right place.
Are all the fuses and relays definitely pushed home?
Did you check the relays for burning, loose pins or rattling before re-using them?

What happens if you put the old box back in?

With your luck I wouldn't bother with the lottery ticket.

i've changed my fusebox in the past and there is different ones for the petrol model, so i would first check you have the correct one. with all the different faults displaying this can sometimes be down to a faulty battery or its just slightly under charged.

Check that the ignition and other relays are OK. Can't see why you would have used all new fuses which are simple devices which either work or don't but not check or replace the relays which fail due to contact wear.
check also the battery cables for corrosion inside the plastic sheath and that the connectors on the underside of the fusebox are pushed fully home.

Hi

The fuse board was bought new from a land rover dealer and is a genuine part, i did note a different part number on the new one however. I put all the relays from the old box in the exact same places in the new one and double checked it was right. The box came with new fuses - hence the old ones not being used.

I will start with the obvious and check all connections and relays, hopefully it will be something simple.

Thank you for your help
