Hello Mr Hippo , nice to hear from you , unlike The Mad Hit Man , who does not like me , its a good job I am not sensitive :D
For and old git he's not that bad. It's nice of him to pop into the Freelander forum to help us. Bit like old times back in the day when he had one of his own. ;)

Why dun't you and yer 58 members to date join landyzone and talk about Freelanders with us rather than setting up yer own forum and trying to poach our members because yer dun't have enough members who want to move with you?

Something to take into consideration: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/1458182-post24.html

I'm a member of several Forums and think it's pretty healthy to have different places with different ways of working and different interests.

Having been on this site for over 3 years, it's a great place but, with huge respect Mr Hippo, there's about as much discussion relating to Freelander 2's here as there is on Main Page - All Border Collies Forums :D (Yes, I'm a member there too, I hope that's not "poaching"!) :D And at least I could post about an FL2 there without someone coming along a few minutes later to remind me that my Freelander 2 isn't a real Land Rover and that I should have bought a Disco/Defender/Range Rover instead!

Long live different Forums (Fora?) and membership of several at a time!

Well for me ...Im happy with one forum this one, couldn't be chuffed with going backwards and forwards to other forums to be honest.

You would seem to be a bit short sighted too - the older that FL2's get the more people on here will end up buying them and more discussion on LandyZone will happen.

We get banter yes but mostly its funny stuff, when your brain has matured enough to recognize that it is fuuny stuff, the said mature brain tends to give funny stuff back ;)
It is assumed that dummies are already jettisoned from the pram after 3 years membership.

You seem to want a big forum quick - is it only for FL2's ? not FL1's, fenders, RR's,
Discos ?
Excluding these owners with a huge engineering/motoring/laning/general knowledge base would be a mistake in my eyes... as banter aside everyone on LZ helps each other in the end.

:D

The son of a mate bought a F1 k series last week  He knows nothing about motors.

What did I do? Pointed him here of course, told him to read the stickies, anything he didn't understand or the first sign of a problem join up and ask.

Why? Just look at the number of issues flagged up in the stickies, the solutions there and in the How To's, the number of active Freelander members, the speed and quality of advice, LZIR volunteers willing to help anyone out of trouble.

As for banter am I going to rush off and start another forum because someones taken the **** out of me pig?

Come along to the LZ 10th birthday bash, ir's going to be a cracker and you'll see that none of us are that different :)

thing is why create another forum when we have so many. Especially when we have this one which would benefit from more FL2 posts. I'm a member of many of those I posted above but don't visit them much. It's too difficult to follow in depth more than 1 forum. Also joined some over seas who link to me video's and discuss them, to answer their vid related questions.

I've been around on other forums when splits occurred and have lost contact with many I discussed stuff online with. Also met with them at oft road events. some of those were forum events. Good times. All because of the minority who wanted to be in control of their own forum. I've seen many splits and it's always the trouble makers and their mates in control when the new forum is created. Several forums have died and the rest don't have many members. It takes a lot of work to keep a forum running and many don't realise what goes on in the background. Hence why I support the theory of supporting the established forums as we have enough.

As for the bashing we get on ere. Get even. Give em some back. Nothing stopping yer from posting in their section. If yer get annoyed at the stoooopid threads they start in ere then start yer own in their section. Bettererer still, take over in their section and demand it's renamed as the 2nd Freelander section. As a gesture of good will I have allowed them to still post in there but only if they follow my rules and adhere to the changes I've made... http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/i-would-just-like-say-225175.html

:D

A few points here:

1. You prefer to stick with one forum, I prefer 3 or 4. Neither of us is right, neither is wrong.

2. I've been contributing here for 3 years and discussions about the Freelander 1 still outnumber those about the Freelander 2 at least 20:1

3. I enjoy a bit of banter and a laugh as much as anyone, that's why I put a laughing smiley where I was having a "bitch" back.

4. If we had sections for all of the other LR's, we could quite rightly be charged with trying to duplicate what you have here and that would be pointless!

John.

1. Who says I was trying to determine who is right or who is wrong - it was just my honest opinion.

2. As I said originally

3. Good luck with your forum

4. I don't bite - bye bye :)

If more freelander2 owners posted then the ratio of posts would change. But I suspect that most fl2 drivers Are not forum orientated. This will probably change in the next couple of years as the vehicle ages and more of them fall Into the hands of enthusiasts and tinkerers.

I think that the wealth of information found round here substantiallly outweighs the minor bickering that some people insist on.

But I suspect that most fl2 drivers Are not forum orientated.

If Landyzone is all you have to judge levels of FL2 activity buy I can fully understand how you came to that conclusion.

However, there's lots and lots of FL2 forum activity it's just that, for some reason, it virtually all happens elsewhere.
