New Fob needed

I only have one fob at the moment and want to get a 2nd one as a back up.

Where is the best place to get a key ? I can code it at a later but at the moment Timpsons want 180 quid at least, Other places 125

When i bought the car it came with 2 keys and one fob. I use walking sticks so its a lot easier to unlock with a remote. I would prefer to have a back up remote in case there is a problem with the original . I have seen on bay some are going for 40- 79 GBP .

Is there a serial number or code i should look for in the advert? My concern is, i buy one and when it comes to pairing it with the car it does not work

Don’t know I have a freelander 2 and you never normally use the key

Freelanders were always supplied with 2 keys and 2 fobs.

or here from the US for a fraction of the price: LAND ROVER KEY FOB REMOTE CONTROL CASE SHELL DISCO 1 FREEL YWX101230S YWX101060L | eBay don't know if they all would work, but I think coding can be done via Hawkeye. Maybe someone else can have/give more info on that.

If you anyone needs a genuine replacement fob case for FL1/D1 (CASE ONLY NO GUBBINS) they are p/no YWX101070L £7.74 inc vat from LR.

I believe there was one year where second fob was optional? 1999 or 2000 maybe. But need to go check in James Taylor book.
