As long as the people that I talk to are happy for me to post the details on the forum then I'll do so.

In regards to making a good name for AF, the thing that's most important to me is making your lives easier, and that's what I'll look at doing first and foremost.

coming over well so far, i hope you can back it up:scratching_chin:

I asked you guys for a quote on my disco a few weeks ago. I was told my disco is now classed as a "classic" and because of that I could not get the class 1 business use on it. I have seen many other builders using old landys for work vehicles, so why do you guys not like to insure landys for work..? I thought they were designed for working..

i take it yu have had a looks at other threads with your name on about insurance? :D

I'm certainly aware to say the least.

But my Grandad used to say, ''it's better to send the lambs to slaughter when they don't know where they're going'' ... (The least I can do is try to make you all smile)

If you PM me your surname and postcode and can look into it now if you'd like?

Bit late now chap, I needed cover back then.. I was just wondering why, thats all.

In honesty I don't see why this would be an issue. I imagine what the quotations clerk may have meant was that they cannot find a classic car quotation with the commercial usage, and the schemes with the commercial use may have been more expensive than a rate you'd already had. But without seeing the file I'm stabbing in the dark, as I said, I can always look into it to get the definite answer should you wish?

Cheers

Had a similar issue myself when I rang AF last year. Im a 40s male with full no claims, protected. Never had an accident or conviction other than a couple of speeding tickets.
My 1989 90 is in as good condition as I can get it and is used as much as a new vehicle might be. Its value to me is way more than the value ins. would pay on this vehicle.
I rang AF re. agreed value ins. and was told ther was no possibbility of this if any business use. I asked for a definition of business use and was told even if I took business letter to the postbox this was business! I am a farmer and at least 60% of the usage is work related.
I have no issues with my existing insurance other than the value of my landy so I just kept things the way they were. I cant understand why this is such a big deal, millions of people use their cars for work related stuff?

Surname is Pickett and postcode is I need business use because I go from job to job with tools in the boot.
I mentioned Landyzone when I phoned, and I am max no claims (27 years no claims but I can only prove 10 years because of insurance company rules) and live in a low risk area and in me 40's, but you guys were about £80 to £100 more expensive. I thought you were gonna be cheaper being a Landy specialist n all that. I was surprised that my disco was classed as a classic too. I always phone around every year, doing all the comparison sites n all that, and nobody else said my disco was a classic..
Don't worry if its too much hassle, but I am interested to know why..
I will phone for a quote again next year..

I don't want any personal details though. I just wondered why they don't like to insure business use on older land rovers, thats all..
My name and post code, along with many others is all over the internet, so I ain't worried who knows..

Smooth talking Ed! I wish you luck on here. And more to the point I really hope you can help out those that need it!

The personal replies is a good start. As already mentioned the 'robotic' responses just ****es people off
