Freelander would be the cheapest 4x4 to buy. Yer can get a reasonably good one for under £1000 these days. The problem will be yer insurance will be high for 4x4's. Have a look on the comparison insurance sites like confused. Yer might be best to buy a small car ter get some insurance years behind yer first in order to avoid high insurance costs. Then buy a bigger car later on as yer insurance comes down.

OK thank you for the info :)

Hi and welcome!

If you’re new to driving, you’ll get hammered on insurance. You’d be better getting a year or two driving experience on a boring car then looking for one. In that time, your insurance will drop considerably and you can save for a better landy. If not, for the first year or two, try something cheaper to run like a Suzuki jimmy if you’re determined to have a 4x4, then trade up to a proper 4x4.

yeah I'm probably gonna end up just getting a cheap car like a golf or something like that till my insurance drops thanks for the advice

Is there a local 4x4 club near you? Join up and maybe someone would be willing to take you out greenlaning. You'll gain lots of valuable experience and you will come in handy when people get stuck.
