New door locks

Just bought a set of door locks as mine are all fooked.

Guess what turned up in the post? Yep ****part.

Anyone used these, before I spend hours changing them??

They have a black weather cover/slider rather than SS. This looks like the same as in my replacement fuel cap and its a right c**t. Have to use a knife blade to slide it back so I can get the key in

I have just spent an hour rebuilding a defender tailgate door lock barrel and I would say fit them.

My tailgate lock never worked so I decided to take it apart, it looked like a previous owner removed all the lock pins / tumblers so any key would actually open the lock. I ordered a new door lock barrel set, Britpart items turned up so I ordered a genuine set.

Anyway it turns out the barrel in my door is a later 9 pin lock rather than the 5 pin like on the side doors - I haven't been able to get one of these using my usual suppliers so I decided to see if I could remove the pins from my new locks and rebuild the tailgate lock barrel. Quite a task but mission accomplished - took ages trying different combinations of pins to get my ignition key to operate it

Doing all this I didn't seem much difference in quality betweem the original, Britpart and genuine lock barrels.

EDIT - Hmmm, my ****part locks had the SS cover rathen than black though!

what no part no did you order as i fit quite a few but have neves been black

I fitted a britpart lock to my driver's door about 6 months ago. It is now broken. Can't lock it, seized solid. Might have nothing to do with it being britpart but on the other hand.

Hi, I got a four pack (intended to refit the fule cap lock) Corresponding part no. MTC6505. Five brass tabs in the lock barrel.

I can't find any on ebay or anywhere else that are not black

I'm talking about the wee weather cover insert thing that slides sideways when you insert the key? The one on my fuel cap is very flimsy and pushes in rather than sliding out the way.

Come on please big cheese dudes. Do I fit these f***part locks or will I regrett it? Your word,collectively, is gospel (obviously one of the lost ones)
