On magazine test in lceland

DSC, ETC, RSC, ALB, RTC, EBL, LDW, TR, HDC......and it still needed a Defender 110 to pull it out of a snow filled ditch

Looks nice though. Soon to be seen parked at golf clubs countrywide.

Remember this is essentially a replacement for the freelander- it's not intended to go quite as far as the full-size disco (or defender or range rover)

Very clever bits of kit though- I know someone who worked on the 'active driveline'.

Do you think in 19 years time I'll be able to pick one up for £600 and fit the engine and running gear into what will by then be my vintage tratter like I've just done with a 300tdi?

I wonder when the first Evoque will enter the scrapyard due to failing the MOT and not worth repairing.

It's surprising how soon some premium cars made by Ford, Renault etc are scrapped.

There are thousands of disco sports parked outside the Halewood plant waiting to have faults put right. Doesn't bode well does it.

I saw what I thought was a new freelander in Tetbury during late summer last year. It was painted in that black and white camauflage and the had the word Discovery on the bonnet, so I knew it was some sort of prototype. My old man got sent a magazine from the LR Dealer a few weeks ago, and sure enough there were pics of this Discovery sport plastered all over.

It's slightly nicer looking that it's freelander forbears, but I think that landrover are just ditching the freelander marque because it is the only 'budget' model in their range, and if I'm not mistaken, the brand is moving further from rugged off road vehicles, and more towards top end luxury vehicles. (While milking the off road heritage as a USP). Shame that their flagship model is the Rangie, and not the Defender (or it's soon to be equivalent), as that is where the brands has it's roots.

Would you lot prefer to keep the Freelander 2 if they dropped the new disco sport? Just wondering.

Sure your not confusing them for a whole load of returned ejokes? All waiting to be rebranded and sold in china as Land Wing :D

As far as I understand, it's more to do with moving away from Land Rover/Range Rover branding and towards Range Rover/Discovery/Defender, all under the Land Rover brand. The freelander/discovery lines are being merged as a result.
