other than Putting a dead lock on the door frame..
Anyone Know where ya can get decent replacement Barrel locks for a pre 2000 defender..
can open mine with just about any key i can find.. and i can't imagine Britpart Replacements being much different either!

Fit central locking and put rear handles on the front doors which have a blank in the hole. Can't attack the barrel or the skin!

steering wheel lock / clutch claw
i use a disklok and clutch claw - I don't know how good these are (they both have had good reviews) and mine's not been nicked yet - the proof of the pudding being in the eating. Au fin du jour, if some scrote wants to nick it, they probably can whatever you do, best you can do is as much as possible to put them off going for yours and at least stuff like disklok and cluth claw are visible to the tealeafs. No-one's gonna be put off going for yours cos you've got good barrel locks - they won't know that. There's some good security tips on here if you search.

I have a MY99 Defender and it is quite a hassle to use 2 types of keys, one for the door and the other for the ignition. I wonder if anyboby ever thought of a conversion kit, I think it would sell!!

i have about 5 keys for mine where i have replaced worn out barrels at different times.

Doesnt bother me... not sure it would sell tbh cant think it bothers many people having to use a different key afterall they are all on the same keyring.

****es me off! I have ignition and fuel cap and it bugs me!! Then my pedal lock and steering lock.

I hate big bunches!

I had some replacement barrel locks for my series and they were way more robust than the ones on my current Defender , can`t remember what make they were but I think I got them from Kings Langley Land Rover.

Since it was a ragtop there was a flaw in the plan, but the doors felt impregnable...........
