Howdy. Long time listener, first time caller.

So last week my long-suffering old Jimny blew all the coolant straight out of the exhaust. Again. And I thought “This is great but you know what would make this more fun? Heavier, expensivier parts and more computers!”

So today I bought a ‘99 Disco 2 TD5 of completely unknown provenance and I look forward to asking all you fine folks inane questions that have already been asked.

the test drive went well and I was impressed but the drive home proved challenging when it got dark and rainy and it turned out that the headlights were full of mud and had been wired backwards and sideways. Because high beam is low beam, and low beam turns one off and shoots the other 90 degrees to the left.

I haven’t any good photos at the moment because, well, it’s dark. But here’s roughly the point at which the ‘oh my god what have I done’ feeling kicked in :D

I shan’t bore you with the minutiae but the price was right (£1900) and it looks pretty solid underneath for an old girl with 200k.

Suggestions for names on the back of a postcard please so I can submit them to the missus when she’s talking to me again.

Somebody please send help

Hi and welcome!

Tidy looking disco. Did you check the rear chassis, as that’s the Achilles heel of the disco 2. If it’s good, make sure you keep on top of rust prevention. Otherwise, enjoy!
