Well, successfully re-synched the second key-fob this morning :) The 3secs to right, 3secs to left worked first time, so the air-con is next.

I have a couple of days off work and had planned to do a more thorough inspection all around. In particular the front prop u.j. and osf lower & upper suspension ball joints which were MoT advisories in January, but bitter wind outside so cutting up wood for the fire instead - in the hope that the sun might come out... :(

You did all that research and still went and bought a high milage petrol .
Shame on you 1000 lines

Look out for slipped liners and overheating and I should of at least got a Thor !;)

Get rid of the condensation PDQ or you will be chasing electrical problems. Looks good until you get to the under bonnet photo. Should have a black air duct with BMW written on it for best version. If you look closely at the V8 engine it will have "Oooops" stamped on it somewhere. :D:D:D

Condensation seems to have cleared and I'm assuming it had been sat around a bit with the dealer with wet bodies getting in and out. I've obviously used each day this week and open windows when I can - thus circulated a bit of air around. The inside needs a clean TBH, but didn't want to introduce more damp so it will wait for a decent day - July 2015 perhaps? The spare wheel well with the LPG tank was very condensated and I left the cover propped up for a couple of days to ventilate and that seems to have cleared too. Something to keep an eye on however and I might look at cutting a couple of vents/grills into the floor panel.

The engine was replaced at 97K, so is actually sub 100K - obviously the rest isn't, but does seem to have been well maintained...

Defender300Td1 - comments noted and I was actually looking for a DSE. :D My hand was kinda forced when the exhaust of the Disco sheared off on the 'Y' shaped cat pipe just below the manifold flange. It changed the game plan from soon to immediate! We both work full time and depend heavily on cars to achieve everything that has to fit into the day including school run - public transport just doesn't work for the journeys needed and I was forking out £15 a day on one taxi run! I'd been watching the P38/DSE market since October (eBay, AutoTrader and a few local sources) but the few that came up locally were loaded with issues, had coil conversions or were over my budget. I had been planning a 500 mile round trip to look at 7 on a Midlands run combined with a family visit, but then this one popped up on my doorstep! I like the economy of the BMW units, but confess I did have some concerns around power and to chip or not to chip etc. Most who I spoke to didn't reckon they averaged more than 22/24mpg anyway? I use regularly for mobile disco and also to tow boat or a 4 wheel trailer used for animal feeds, logs etc. Currently boat is only a 14' and even a Mini would tow, but I'm rebuilding a 21' with a V8 that's considerably heavier and may well look for a 25/28' project after that! The thought of towing around a hilly area like this with an underpowered tug sowed the seeds of doubt. I also know the LR V8's reasonably well as this is my 4th consecutive one since 1998 (5th if you count an earlier Rover SD1 3.5!) so sometimes it's "better the devil you know..."

Sod's law you look now your find one ! Its always the way when you want one desperate they are wreck's and when you don't want one there is loads to choose from . Good luck I'm sure you get lots of help if needed , I wouldn't Rely on it just yet until you know how it behaves .
Make sure you have plan b no not the singer:)

Too true! There were a few around in October/November but I didn't have the cash and didn't want to borrow it so stupidly stuck the disco through another MoT. It didn't fail on much - two marginal tyres, front discs, play in drop arm, a track-rod end and a couple of switches. Thus I thought it'd do another 12M... No such luck - a quirky intermittent fuelling issue resulted in a couple of strandings, AA recovery, trip to garage for new pump (wasn't that!), and then exhaust popped! I could have done the Y pipe for about £350 and a half-day off work, but you have to draw the line somewhere don't you? Stuck it on eBay worts 'n' all for spares and got £400 so effectively the P38 has only cost me £1600.

I'm always a bit nervous of new to me vehicles, so definitely on 'defcon1' for the moment :D Planning a good slog around the field at the weekend through 8" deep 'goo' towing a trailer collecting trees should give it a shakedown - especially with those tyres and no winch  (Does anyone know if the AA do off-road retrieval?)

Book Symbol could be because the Air Con needs gassing....IIRC the Prog defrost turns on the A/C (Remember the A/C is OFF when the Light is ON...) and as such could be low on gas pressure??!!
No gas in the aircon does not produce the book symbol on the HEVAC on mine, may be year dependent.:)

A quick update as I didn't get as far a picking up wood from field last week - spent the whole of last Sunday repairing fences, hedges etc. This weeks efforts involved finishing off the same, but as I needed more hardware in the form of tools etc I took it all down in the RR. Mostly grass/mud and even after such a wet winter most has dried so no real concerns and a walk in the park for the Disco - so what could possibly go wrong...

Well more than you'd expect actually - I got stuck in the gateway before she even touched the grass! When I say stuck, I don't mean really stuck - just stuck enough to have to get out, get muddy, wield a shovel and pack dry materials under the 'bogged in' tyres. Very surprised it floundered so easily if I'm honest, but in it's defence, the tyres are totally unsuitable and, being 'fatter' than the Disco's, at an added disadvantage in the 'wrong sort of mud'... :p The mud's still pretty wet in the gateway and about 8-10" deep - actually ideal consistency for pulling wellies off too. Manual intervention was used as she was sliding within a piece of paper of the stable building if I tried to reverse out and I didn't want to ding the bodywork for the sake of a bit of digging! (Not that I'm one for beating a 'retreat' anyway) The traction control was a bit of a joke TBH, it reduced slow progress to no progress and finished the job that I started by being too cautious. I understand the later ones are better, but perhaps more suited to snow than gloopy mud? Luckily I wasn't pulling the trailer -the Disco would probably have been!

In short, a couple of lessons learned 1) Tyres are woefully inadequate 2) Turn off TC before I start next time...

A couple of pics for the sake of it :D

In terms of gremlins, only one new one thus far - the far RH side of the display has gone dim - I just know that will be a pig to get to so may have to live with that a while. :(

On the plus side, I topped off the LPG tanks midweek and a quick bit of maths show's I'm getting 14.8mpg on gas - almost all short urban runs (trip says average speed of 13 mph) so not at all bad. A couple of longer runs coming up soon, so I'm hoping that will eek out closer to 18-20mpg. (The best the Disco achieved was 9.5mpg on gas!)

TC is as you found pretty useless, it cannot be turned off, it turns itself off after a short period to prevent overheating.

Ah, thanks Datatek - I can stop searching the handbook and RAVE trying to figure out how to turn off then!
