The old boy had a new clutch fitted yesterday as his was slipping he also needed a new flywheel because the old one had play in it, also the spigot bush was fitted and a n ew clutch fork.

When we picked the car up yesterday the clutch peddle was right down near the floor and it seemed hard to select gears, the garage said this was normal and it needs bedding in as there is no adjusment on the clutch.

What are your thoughts on this it just doesn't feel right to me, there is a lot of play on the top of the clutch peddle so maybe it needs bleeding or though the garage said they didn't disconnect any clutch pipes, any info is appreciated.

if the slave cylinder is old it's quite common to fail when you release it from the pushrod cos the pressure pushes the piston further and the internal seal splits inside then it wont come back to the proper position again and no bleeding will help... happened to me... if no joy with the bleeding replace the slave cylinder ....if still no joy this "phenomenon" might happen to the master cylinder too but not so often

the cylinder's metal body wears in time along the piston's travel and when the cylinder is removed the pressure in the pipe pushes the piston forward and the seal meets the unworn part and splits ...that' the explanation

unless you are as unlucky as me to get a faulty new clutch kit(AP)...let's hope not

We had to have a new master and slave cylinder when our clutch was done they quite often fail as has been stated.........

Clutch slave and master cylinder, if you do a clutch and flywheel on any car you should do them too to ensure it will remain working :)
