new car few problems n whurring noise

Im new to discos tbh me and my mate have both just bought 2 , his is a 300tdi mines a 300tdi :)
Anyway theres a whurring noise when going along in mine and its quite loud even at 30mph never mind 50 but my mates doesnt do it
To me it sounds like the tyres are whurrying best way to describe it but i have insa turbo ones and my mates are even wider and bigger but hes dont have the road noise
is it the tyres or something else i think the tracking is out would this cause it ?
Kinda worrying how my does his dont ect
also we both have the same problem with having to change into second gear slowly other wise it makes a slight crunch

alsssooo mine has a dodgy drivers door the guy i bought it off said it was the spring or something have to flick the handle but takes me ages now so just climb through but its ok opening from inside

allllsooo my passenger window dont work the seller said it was the rail m motor makes a clicking noise but window just wobbles a bit basicly easy to do?

Have a search on the forum- the window and door locks are easy fixes

If your unsure as to whether its your tyres try swapping with your mate then both go out again...

Is the whirring on acceration, deceleration, all the time? When stationary or only when moving?
 
Its all the time when moving say plus 20mph when u can notice it most and gets louder with speed , i know the tracking is out so ill do that first i think and see what that does also what psi do people normal put the tyres for road , and also for off road

Different tyres will make different noises due to different tread patterns; just because your mate's are larger doesn't necessarily mean they'd hum more. As you say, get the tracking sorted. Not sure on pressure because they're not stock Disco tyres.

Thanks for reply and yer ano what you mean my nobbles? Seem larger and more spaced apart than his and ill get done on weekend thanks
what about window rail ?
 
Where abouts ? Ones on prop shaft its had a new prop shaft and all works been carryed out by this specialist
 
A new propshaft? There are two; a front and a rear:D ;)
The specialist should have re-greased all the UJs

Slight crunch into second gear - synchromesh worn, but if you can drive around the issue then no problem (take it slow as you say, or double de-clutch - I do either with mine depending upon what mood I'm in). Third sometimes grabs a little on my Disco. I usually try and blip the throttle on down changes too. Not quite heel-and-toe technique, but it helps to try and balance the engine rpm to the box. Good practice for when a clutch cable snaps like it did on my Cavalier coupe many years ago.

Could be the transfer box, check it has oil in it!

Put the key in the door and turn it fully open then it should work fine on the handle. Not a difficult job to swap the lock but will take time. Search lock replacement post by me I took lots of pictures if I remember correctly.

Sounds like a tooth has stripped on the regulator. Weld it up and file a new tooth on or get a new one.
 
Transfer box u say it honestly sounds like tyre noise but now u say that its got me thinking as ive posted another thread about my transfer box

was messing about with high n low range and struggled to get it in diff lock in end gave up tryed putting it back in high struggle but getting it in normal low is easy, now the ####ing thing keeps slipping out off high on over run corners and slowing down sort off thing into neutral :/
