Hi guys, I am new to the land rover scene, I bought an F plate Defender 90 2.5td off a mate as a fixer upper. It is all finished now & is being offered for sale.

You can look this two ways.

1, I am a cheeky scrote that has just joined your forum to palm off a bodged up old banger & will never be back or seen or heard of again. I could be a scaming tossbag from Nigeria & will rob you blind & sell your grandmother

Or

2, I am into other stuff & have had a dabble in your scene, I have brought a good car up to scratch so the new owner doesn't have to & am offering it to enthusiasts rather than the vultures on ebay & autotrader.

You decide.

I am heavily into the Air cooled VW scene, I have had cars featured & built a few. I have many friends in the motor trade & a few that are into off roading. I consulted a Land Rover specialist before buying the car to make sure it wasn't a lemon. He gave it the thumbs up so I bought it.

I have spent the last few weeks reading tech stuff on these forums which have been a massive help. By searching I was able to find all the info I needed without having to register & ask stupid questions.
The car now runs & drives spot on & my heater is working great.

So which ever opinion you have, there is a pretty sound & reasonable car up for grabs which otherwise would have not been offered to the enthusiast. I would hate to see all my hard work be undone & hope the new owner will love it.

I have added a few extras such as a pair of rear bench seat & a stereo holder as well as a new mot & some tax. Changing the thermostat was the best thing I did as now it runs a whole lot better.

Have a look in the for sale section if you know anyone that may be interested.

We often have new members join the VW forums, of which I am active on loads, over 7k posts on VZi, so am always wary of someone joining just to sell a car. It often gets peoples backs up, but hopefully you can make your own minds up.

If you ever meet me or call me on the phone, you will know.
Check out my website if you like old VW's. I have had a few & will have more to come.

This might not be my last Land Rover, as after the initial shock of driving it I got to quite enjoy it.

Stay cool people.

It's in there already, I know it's a no no to put for sales in chat.

I thought I would just be honest as to why I signed up. If I didn't have so many cars, I would probably keep the Landy for a while, I was going to let the Mrs drive it & sell our Jimny, but it's just too butch for her to drive.

I will probably get another one one day.

This forum seems quite good, I know what it's like when outsiders come in, they are always going to take some flack. I was in & out of the Smart car forum when I had one of those.

Fixing these old cars would be a whole lot harder without the internet.

get rid of the slitty and keep the landy.:D

I don't think that will happen.

If the splitty ever went I think another T3 Syncro would appear.

I think I will keep the splitty for a while, I have only driven it a few times. It will get painted soon with any luck.

Although I didn't dare take it out in the snow, I got it into 4 wheel slide on the frost, It's lethal!
