Hi everybody, after many years of contemplation I finally took the plunge in February and bought a 110 from 1996.

Unusually this truck has had more or less a total rebuild with a new galvanised chassis, new panels, brakes, suspension, gearbox, drive shafts etc., and a full respray. The car it displaced was a 2007 Cooper S works that my missus drove so she isnt a hapy bunny but luckily Im still married so must have got away with it!.

I drove up to the north of Glasgow to collect the 110 and to drop the mini off and with temperatures around -3 I soon realised that the heater wasnt up to much, so first job identified, the radio wasnt working (broken speaker and aerial) second job but it drove well as I made my way to a stop over in the Yorkshire Dales. A mile from the rest point I selected low ratio for a very steep decline and the sod wouldnt go back into high aftrerwards so I arrived at my mates frozen to the bone with no apparent way to get home the nest day (it was also snowing by this point). I called the nice brakedown men and after some dabate they sent a retired landrover specialist out early the next morning. He dived underneath the truck in his shirt sleeves (still minus 3) and after a few minutes identified the problem as being a C-Clip that hadnt been tightened when the new gearbox was fitted in January. After twenty minutes he had the problem fixed and I drove down to Henley (still frozen stiff!).

The heater fix was simple and now it gets up to 26 degrees in the cab so it looks like my 300tdi is a good one, the radio is now fixed (so I can listen to it when Im parked!) and my wife hates the truck but I love it.

Anyway, its early days but Im smitten and can see why people get the bug for these things.

Cheers Keith
