New Battery - Remove Bungs

Just bought a new battery for my 52 Freelander TD4 and on the top of the battery it says remove bungs before fitting. I've changed loads of batteries in the past and never seen this before. Anyone any idea what it's talking about? It may be the six bung looking caps running across the top of the battery but surely it doesn't want those removing exposing the acid.

It's an Alphaline battery bought online from performance batteries.

does it have a breather pipe thats capped off for transportation purposes? itll look like a washer pipe connector

OK. I've taken two pics of the battery, the one with the sticker on the top clearly pointing to the battery cell caps and the little red bung on the side, do you reckon it's the red thing?

why not not ask the folks you bought it from, they must have a phone or e-mail number.

They do but the lines are always busy, and the last email response took 27 hours to come back. Would like to get the car running today.

you should have a little plastic elbow that fits where you remove the bung from, you know it makes sense
