Well as the army ones are supplied direct from the factory and are modified with stronger chassis etc. and come off a seperate production line I would say that unless LR are having problems with supplying the MOD. Then the dealer is probably full of ****. your friend could try contacting another LR dealer and seeing if they can help.

I was on an RAF base just last weekend and there were ten white transit engined 110s on wolf rims with special vehicle badges and nato hitches all sitting in a hangar so maybe tis not bollox after all.

i've been on army bases where they have had dozens of landrovers ,mainly green sitting in hangers.
doesn't mean ship except there are landrovers in a military hanger

I heard a tail that they are so short of Landrovers because of Iraq and Afganistan that they where even trying to buy back old 90s and 110s from the likes of Blanchards ! I guess with everything thats going on just now their resources must be stretched to the limit and with 2 wars their budget will be used up for years to come ! so just maybe there is a hint of truth in all the rumours !!!!

They are about to announce that all privately owned ex MoD LandRovers are to be conscripted back into army service, no compensation until next year.

Conscription of ex mil vehicles? Now that is all pure bollocks.
I hear they are pushing the TDCI defenders to international military markets hard, I know the US are interrested because theyre cheaper than hummers and can go in the back of a chinnie. Santanas are leaf at the back so only appeal to the short of pocket military wise.

I wish I knew how you got that picture in there.
Incidentally, the Royal Army Veterinary Corps have been put on stand-by to take over horses if they can't get enough Landies back. The double benefit is you can use horses till they drop, and then eat them. Saves carrying half a ton of ten-man ration packs.

From a v reliable source, the current 16AAB who are prepping for the sandpit only have 6 of the 110 wmik Land rovers they are supposed to train on all the rest are already being used in theatre .
