New anti theft device for Defenders

£590 con :-0 it wouldn't cost half that to make it I bet wish people wouldn't jump on the band wagon all the time as soon as the word Land Rover is mentioned

I agree, it is a bit chingy, but given the amount time, effort, ££ and passion that most people put into their Defenders, I can see that there will definitely be a market for it.
Couple that with the rate of thefts of the Defender, it's sure to sell pretty well.

Pricey, but a price worth paying I think, I put far more money into my D90 than that, and plan to do much more in the long run. However, living on an army camp is safer than living on a public road, and I could probably leave the keys in and nobody would do anything, except maybe move it for banter. So I'd consider it when I'm old and rich (one day)

Would be a bloody nightmare to get off if it malfunctioned. I think we should all just get the electrocution system from robocop.

Won't stop the hiab trucks though

Good point, also if the scumbags used a beaver-tail with a powerful enough winch the Defender could be dragged up onto the bed. I think the best defence is a device like the one featured (pricey, but how much is your Defender worth?) together with parking somewhere that makes it difficult to position another vehicle close to yours - a combination not practical for many owners I suspect.

Erm four bolts out of the rear prop Brrum .....gone. A lot of money for something that ain't going to stop somebody with two spanners.......or am I missing something?

From what I gather if the vehicle was locked in diff lock it still wouldn't move but I see your point, rear prop off and its effectively useless

Waste of money as a huge investment for little security

if the rear flange is locked and even if you remove the rear prop and drive, then afaik it'll very quickly destroy the box.

I reckon it could be lifted in less than 5 minutes with that device

So basically we have decided this is a waste of money and there are better solutions out there?

I was thinking it'd destroy the box. Yeah saved your landy but now youve got ££££ to spend getting it going again

It wouldn't destroy the box. Why would it? It entirely depends on how it works but as I've said unless it's in diff lock the vehicle will still drive with just the rear prop removed

Edited to add: I've just realised that I've been a mong. Vehicle won't drive with a prop off unless it's in diff lock. With diff lock on that contraption will prevent it from turning. The vehicle won't move unless it's really really forced so it's effectively operating as a handbrake for the transfer box.
It will work. I can't see it destroying the box unless it's forced so unless the vehicle is lifted onto a flat bed it can't be driven. Even if it does destroy the box you've still got your fender and a new transfer box costs about 90 quid.
