Hi all, I have just "aquired" an old 110 of unknown vintage. Whilst giving it a bit of a test to see if all was working (in low range, diff-lock on, gently chugging up a dune), there was a nasty bang. I have lost drive to the rear wheels. I stripped out the half shafts and they were ok, same with diff. I then took off and stripped the transfer box, but did not see anything obviously wrong it there. Even with diff-lock on there is nothing going to the back?????? Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.... I did have that apart and all splines, gears etc look ok, but I do not know how it all actually works......I will have to have another look there, and see if I can figure it out!

have you checked drive members on rear axle ,does it actually drive in diff lock,or was vehicle not moving (jumped out of difflock/not going into diff lock and drive been lost through front bust cv etc)

Hi again, sorry did not get back to you yesterday, but am in remote Mozambique, with resultant internet hassles!! I have checked rear axle and diff and all ok there. Have had front and rear propshafts off, started it and put it in gear, only front out-put shaft turns. Put it in diff lock and same thing happens. as I said, I have had the tranfer box off, stripped it, and could not see anything obviously wrong, but do not actually know what I should be looking for..... there were no bits of broken gears or anything like that lying in the bottom of the case. The centre diff I had apart as well, and all looked ok there, but as I do not know how it all works I may be missing something obvious. I will take the tranfer box off again and have a more thorough root around in there...... assume the problem must lie in there somewhere, as there is good(normal) drive to the front wheels. Thanks for the response.
