Hi all.
I bought an 02 Freelander this week, Very nice car,,goes well, looks lovely. However, yesterday in a car park a hose clip parted company with a plastic joiner and a lot of water was lost. That was reconnected and filled up with spring water from Iceland (shop not country),and all seemed ok until about four miles when temperature rose dramatically. Stopped immediately and cooled car, topped up and carried on. Hopefully its just an airlock. I,ll have a look today.
I have been reading through some of the site. What a mine of information. :)

Ok , It looks like I may have a failed head gasket situation. IT happens. I Have tried bleeding and tested the thermostat for opening etc. Anyone able to recommend a mobile mech in the Nottingham area that may be able to take on the job,

If you bought from garage I'd be back there asking questions.Hose clips don't very often fall off unless they were left untightened after some work carried out? just a thought

Mark. 1800 k series petrol.
Potus , Hose clip as on a heater pipe that has a !/2 inch tube joining it. dosn't look like an original part . I think its a bodge.
Since i posted this morning I have re bled and run it for ages , but have noticed that the bottom of the rad isn't getting warm. also there is a hissing noise from the pressure cap. so next step is to get a new cap

Hi JF,
How went the water problem? Did you get to the bottom of it?

Hi, I was just about to write my on introduction when I saw this. Give Chris a call from Retro Sports Cars in Brighouse. They used t be MG Lifestyle, but SAIC who now own MG forced them to change names. Chris was an MG technician for many years prior to starting his own company and I wouldn't take a K-series to anyone else. Watch out for some of the mobile mechanics as some of their warranty's are not worth the paper it's written on.
