Hi,

I've been scrolling the forums recently so I thought I'd introduce myself.

I've recently bought a defender 90 and have instantly got the bug! There has been many DIY modifications over the years by the looks of it so I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of you for advice on getting it back to a more original state.

Hi and welcome!

Any pics of the new Landy??? We like pics!

As well as improving it, decent security measures are a must as they get nicked like no tomorrow.

I've not taken any yet to be honest. Already began stripping the dash to replace the bulkhead. I bought a second bulkhead that I'm putting new corners and footwells in so I can just swap it out with the other one. It looks like someone's chanaged the gearbox to a discovery lt77 so I'm currently trying to work out what is standard and what isn't.

Welcome Scott. What year/engine is it? There are a few types of LT77 gearboxes. Defenders have the long stick type whereas discos have short type. Earlier ones from 80's can be hard to replace but an R380 can be fitted iv been told?

Welcome to the forum. My 90 is from 1987 and a lot of it is replacement parts!! Mine has a 200tdi engine and rear axle from a Discovery. Good luck getting it sorted and enjoy the experience :)

Greetings and welcome from me too.
Good to have another Fender aboard, we're getting far too many Freelanders.. :D am intrigued about your mods, pics please?
(I gotta 90 300 btw)

I've had an hour or two on it today and think I've worked out it's had a 200tdi engine and gearbox from a discovery. The engine number starts with 12L and the gearbox sits all the way back into the seat box. Anyone know the best way or gearbox to fit to get it back to standard with the gear sticks in the right place?

depends were the engine has been placed

Nope it's definitely a LT77. It has the 230 transfer box with it as well. Ashcroft's do a selector Rail adaptor but they said it is only for a R380. Did you do your conversion?

No, it was already done. Mine is in the correct place. I understand that it is dependent on the conversion.
Sorry I can't be of more help!
