Holy smokes forgot I was ‘on here’ despite the last 3 years being a Land Rover ‘Odyssey’ of sorts.
I have been busy and … NOT busy/not busy all the same. Work, cold damp garage etc have been the reason for my poor showing. No traction(a 4X4 pun in there somewhere) during much of the time I have ‘been away’. Recently have been chipping away at a long list of garage jobs that didn’t just involve ‘Hippo Heroics’… broken tools and equipment being a small obstacle that continues today but with less broken stuff.
Recap: rebuilding/welding sills and arches on my daughters 2004 TD4 HSE! Whilst I was/am under there got side tracked and have removed subframe and tank to replace bushings and cradle.
Now after a short while (3 years) and a ‘moving’ project completion date… she goes and buys herself another car(Volvo C90) and gives birth to two more kids(now 5 of them) so ‘her’ Hippo has now become ‘my Hippo’.. Suddenly I feel genuinely motivated to get this car ‘done’ and back on the road. Not only for my usage but also to get it out of my garage. I have things to be getting in with..
My welding has progressed but I think my Lidl Special gasless flux core is maybe hindering my skill development(a lame excuse) in the welding arena. My fabrication skills have improved somewhat but I think Ron Covell can sleep easy(for now at least)
I have ‘plans’ once I get finished. Mainly to drive the bloody thing. I love it despite it causing me much emotional angst. It has taught me well although I have let it down many times.
It won’t be going off roading or green meaning any time soon. I live in ‘the sticks’ and any car here suffers from the drive ‘up our track’ to our house. I am blessed in that respect. Might do a lift kit one day.. not a priority…
Anyhoo, thought I drop in to declare my love of sorts.. this forum(despite my rather long absence) continues to be a font of knowledge regards FL tomfoolery.. searching for ‘turbo removal’ brings up a solution I can work with in very short order. Micro seconds that an atomic clock would have trouble timing!! I have small hands and limbs.. just hope my arms are long enough.
Glad to be back..
Cheers

Just a small selection of a bit of work I have done. A needle scaler is pretty good at showing a weakness this corner had a 10p size hole after a good ‘buzzing’ but welding it up required much more cutting than that. Solid now. Had to make this panel using two patches and butt welding it in.
