Need tyres

much ado about nowt

why this is being discussed at all is beyond me

BB is correct, if you want to buy stuff look in the "for sale" section regardless of what vehicle it's for.

my 10¢ worth

It's been deleted because it's a Land Rover and belongs in the Land Rovers for Sale section.

If people want to buy something they will look in the For Sale section unless people start posting things for sale wherever they feel like it.

Those tyres would be equally useful in the Series section, Defender section and for all I know the Disco section as well.

Should it be posted in them all as well to raise awareness? Or perhaps the P&A For Sales where anyone looking for tyres will see them?
Again this petty issue , for sale , detracts from the more serious on L Z :D

He's not selling them, he's drawing awareness to them before a post gets lost in the middle of Defender bits in the for sale area, that very few Freelander people look at...

Which is why I posted my "Considering Selling Up" thread in both areas, so that people actually see it, so as for why its been deleted I don't know!

I agree this post is of genuine interest to Freelanderers, which is why it was probably considered for deletion - but let through. Not sure Disco owners would be interested in 205s.

As for your motor, that's different - the forum would be clogged with parts and all sorts for sale if sale notices were include. Lets face it, it wasn't an "I'm considering..." post, its an "I'm selling" post going on to detail the specs of the car. Just stick it on ebay, then do a post to it titled "This one looks like its got some good mods..." !

Its a shame you're selling up as I've enjoyed reading your posts and you'll obviously be on less in future. I also agree that if it was in the for sale section it probably wouldn't have been seen by Freelander owners, but a closet Gaylanderer might have been interested!

It's no big deal but I am interested in why Freelanderers don't look in the 'for sale' section? I know there's a lot of Fender and Disco stuff in there but I'm happy to search for the odd Series stuff that crops up (well I would be if I had any money )

I know you folk get stick elsewhere on the forum but show me someone who doesn't. Good grief if I can't find someone to take the **** out of I'll take the **** out of myself and my fat arsed Series....which, to be fair, isn't difficult :p

Someone replied to one of my posts the other day that Freelanders are Land Rovers so get over it. Which was kinda ironic because that was exactly the point I was trying to make.

It's a Land Rover forum with different sections for different aspects of Land Rover ownership, some model specific and some general.....get out there and use it! :welcome: :D

My reason for not browsing the for sale section is that there is so much stuff that is of no use to me advertised.... The rest of the landrover range has more commonality between models.

So browsing pages of of defender, disco, series and rangie stuff is pointless as just about nothing fits my little hippo!

Maybe a sub section in for sale?

Ditto. Even when I put freelander stuff for sale it soon gets bumped down a few pages by the way a forum works.
It would be good if there was a way to search for just Freelander stuff just as it would be good to search for other stuff, but if you make a whole new section then you risk people not stumbling onto something.

I personally check the for sale daily but there isn't often anything relevant to me

The same is true for Series stuff and there's not much that's compatible with fenders or Discos but if I'm looking for something then I look.

NB If you use the advanced search you can specify which sections to search in ie search Freelander in 'LR Parts and Accessories'

The danger as I see it is like in the OP the tyres will fit Series 88's, 90's, Defender 90's, Freelanders, Discos.......as a community of LR owners trying to help each other out why would anyone post them in a model specific section?

As an aside the last post on the 1st page of Parts and Accessories is 2 days old so a bump once a day even if a post gets no replies will keep it current

Why wood I bump it. Was just trying to help hippo owners as the 205 is there most popular size tyre. And there are lots of hippo owners with miss matched tyres and this is a very cheap set of 4 at the moment

I realise that, I'm talking about if they were for sale by a forum member and placed in the right section as a reply to the point that Freelander stuff gets lost.

Can you put scrolling ads in your sig? Would only take one line.

I can't see sigs, I never knew I could untill I stumbled on the setting to turned them on. I had them turned on for a day or 2 then got annoyed with them and turned them off. Chances are lots of others are the same.

I must confess BB I never used an advanced search. I spend most of my time on here on tapatalk on my phone when I have a quiet 5 mins at work, when I'm waiting for something/some one or when the adverts come on tv. I have tried a search on here before but it came up with posts from a while ago.

I think the happy medium with this is just keep it as it is, things get sold eventually and most of the time if it isn't sold on here it ends up on eBay anyway

With a site getting as large as it is and the Number of freelanders, maybe there is need for there own sale site as the are more sepcific to there needs. as there is not a cross sharing of parts with different LR models. series, fenders, disco's, P38, and RR all share many parts, so it is obvious a 1 sale site suits most. What does freelander share in parts to the models I just mentioned??????????????? Even I can figure that out;):tea:

Tyres!!!!!!!! :D

And a few accessories like spot light, cb's and general offroad equipment....

I like the amount of banter etc between us freelander types and the rest of the landy world, makes for an interesting site. Splitting off I don't think would be beneficial. I am now frequenting a freelander specific forum but the amount of traffic on landy zone means that there is plenty of knowledge and not all of it comes from those who currently own hippos..........

But maybe some more categories in the sales forum may be the way forward?

So tell me what parts my Series shares with a Disco or a Fender?

Personally I'd like to see the Freelanderers in general getting more involved with the rest of the forum not splitting themselves off.

WELL TO START WITH, WHEN I FIRST JOINED, I STAYED IN THE FREELANDER SECTION TIL SOME DURDY TRATTERER SLATED ME FOR NOT JOINING IN WITH THE REST OF THE FORUM. YOU LOT HAVE BEEN TAKING THE PEE OUT OF ME SINCE.

WISH I'D NOT LISTENED TO THE THAT TRATTERER
