Good day everyone. Im from South Africa and need some advice please.
Is it possible to tow a freelander 1 with a a frame if the freelander doesn't have a engine and gearbox in.

I don't know about the legality in SA, but it would be illegal here in the UK. It's safer to put it on a trailer. ;)

It is possible, providing the rear propshafts are removed.

Its all dirt roads so no legal problem. Ok so it will still steer with the afram. Then i will just remove the props tomorrow and drag it home. Thanx

Lot of towing with frames done here - not sure if its legal though!

I would have though that it would need "certification" which would make it pointless for a 1-off.

Dunno if there's anywhere to bolt a frame to on the Freelander and what difference not having and engine/box would make.

Lots of old non road-legal hunting Series trucks have brackets on their bumper to take a frame.

Recovery type A frames simply have ratchet straps that are tightened up around the lower from wishbones.

Yes it'll still follow the tow vehicle, providing the steering lock is off. Just be aware that the front will bounce a bit, without the weight of the power unit in there. ;)
