If I had more money, I would still have the P38 I do now, but with more new bits

Thank you for the help you’ve given me Keith. I wouldn’t have had the confidence to try it myself if it weren’t for time you and the others here have given me. Biggest and best spend I’ve had on it so far was the 1000cca battery you advised me

What 4x4 would you have if you could have any, for free?

Yes I have 3, one is scrap and has more than repaid it's minimal cost in parts used or sold. No road tax over here and insurance is cheap so keeping 2 is not expensive, it ensures that I always have a working car available, no public transport here in the back of beyond.

If I had the cash I would probably go back to a Pajero but would also look at the big Toyota, at my age I will soon have to look at buying something that doesn't require me to keep crawling underneath.

I nearly bought an L200 1yr old, some years ago. I had the old family Defender instead and took a chance. I’m glad as my mate bought the Mitsubishi and had nothing but trouble from it, engine blew after about 4yrs.

Toyota would be safer option, I believe. They keep going with duct tape and hammerings

I've never had a problem with the Pajero, the auto box was superior to the P38 as was having a centre diff lock, a rear LSD and selectable 4 wheel drive.

I do miss a diff lock but adding an air locker is too much for its works worth ATM

Sorted at last, put the Dunlop one on, and it went up right away, at least my son can get to the UJ now!! happy days

Hope you are using axle stands under the chassis, I wouldn't rely on the air suspension.

Got an issue with my rear-near-side it seems. Was OK before the clutch-work but is now sagging. ****!

A saggy near side bum cheek must be most uncomfortable, maybe you damaged it doing the starter

New starter should be here tomorrow. I'll try and find some time at the weekend and look at both.

Oh yea of course I will, but it was hard to get the jack under with the thing so low to the ground

Do I have to use High Temp Grease for the UJ's? im thinking now just a multi????

I use the same multi purpose grease that I use on my tractor

Why the f8ck me? the front bolts are rounded off for some reason... and it want me, the ones on the back of the prop seem fine, how do i get them off? with such restricted assess, can they be ground off?

Might get a nut splitter in?
Drill the head off?

I didn’t take my shaft off to save work I just changed the UJ and hung the shaft out the way on the tie bar. Took ten minutes and I’m a dick. I have done them before mind so twenty maybe?

If they are on tidy then it don’t matter until you need to take it off ; which you don’t unless you’ve already had a go - Then it be new ones bearmach or summit? And cut/drill old ones out
