hey all,

im having trouble finding the right paint for the new style of desert paint.

i basically want the exact one that the US military use, and that the UK forces have adopted recently.

it isnt light stone, its got pink in it.

ive looked through every BS and RAL palette and cant make my mind up.

ill be using it for a roller paint job on the one ten so i want synthetic and can only get paint from the BS and RAL palettes. and ill be using satin.

ive been doing some research and have a few examples of different codes.

in the order posted below
1st pic BS381c 361 light stone (too light for what i want)
2nd pic BS381c 380 sand (may be right but cant tell from that pic)
3rd pic light stone and 420 dark sand (showing that dark sand definitely isnt it)
4th pic RAL 1024 (could be the one but cant tell from that pic)
5th pic RAL 8000 (not what i was looking for but looks pretty interesting and may work)

if anyones got the correct paint code or the equivalent to what i want, please help me out.

The light sand colour in the first and third pics is what youre looking for. Just look up pictures of the armys newer vehicles Husky or Jackal and you'll see. The Bedford in the second pic (which as an aside was phased out by the army years ago and is unlikely to have the 'new' colour painted on it) is in the same pink as the vehicles used by the LRDG and SAS in the Second World War

thanks wolf, ive checked out those pics. if theyre all the exact same shade of colour fromthe factory then its quite clear that the differences ive been seeing in pictures have all been down to the way the light hits the paint, and how sandy and dusty they get i guess.

some of the pics look exaclty like what i want, then on the brightest pics the paint becomes a lot lighter almost creamy.

ill go with the light stone you suggested and keep it as dusty and dirty as possible to achieve the effect i want. :)
