Hi.
For some time now I was looking to buy an old 90 or 110, but nothing in my budget was available (up to 1200), so Yesterday i`ve found a RR Classic 3,9 Vogue SE LPG on K reg, in advert was that everything is fine.
Send my offer that was accepted, and called later just in case to ask if there is any known faults, and I`ve heard that its overheating, that wipe smile of my face :(.
Owner assured me that its only clogged radiator, he even drop down the price so can by new radiator.
Today i`ve spend almost whole day reading about v8 overheating, and i`m still torn BUY or NOT TO BUY.
Anyway write myself a list about what to check, but maybe someone will be driving acros the beach court about 1 or 2, and would be interested in helping stranger :)
Thanks
Lukas

ps. if anyone heave sugestion what should i do :) don1t hesitate write them :)

unless you got a real bargain and are spanner minded, walk away !!
you already been mislead by him saying all was ok, then it had an overheating problem, now he is dropping the price.....alarm bells ring in my mind, sounds like he wants shot of it, (wonder why) any genuine owner would replace or flush rad out and sort it if they knew that was the problem before they sold it !!!

sorry but I agree the rad didnt suddenly get clogged and start overheating he isnt being upfront any proper bloke would have told you about the overheating at the beginning leave well alone in my opinion

Thank You for all opinions.
My Head from the begining was saying to me - don`t do it, it s crazy, but my heart - maybe its only the radiator or small thing - You will manage.
But will this car for someone else - maybe a scrap man.

Tell him to sort the overheat out...if he doesnt DONT buy it

The guys are right, the rest of the car would want to be mint for you to take the risk on a one with known overheating problems.

BTW if its overheating in this weather its well f**ked, definitely either head gasket or liner as said above, I can hardly get my 3.9 up to running temp and thats with no viscous fan fittted!
For £1,200 you should be able to pick up a very tidy late RRC. There were even 300tdi softdash models floating around for around £2,000 in the last 6 months so that would put 93MY ones in your budget.

Thanks :), wanted to buy scot ads, but unfortunately there was no new paper in the shop :(

Thanks all for reps, day has gone, before i`ve managed to call to guy, he`ve send me text that the car died today :(, the engine would not start.
So.... THANKS GOD !!! :)
One day and i would wake up with another piece of junk (1-st is renault vel satis with broken engine :()

Surely most of the value in a RRC is in the body though?

If it has died and the body is good it might be worth a cheeky offer (scrap value + beer money?). You ought to be able to get an engine sorted and still be quids in.

Just a thought.

When I was originally looking for a Rangey, I was looking at lpg'd RRCs and good ones were about for around the £1k mark so you should be able to find a decent one for that much.
