just looking for some help/advice been reading the posts all night about the same problem I'm having but mines a little more complicated.

Ok get home last night lock the car with the fob comes out this morning fob won't open the car either will the key in fact the key barrel doesn't move at all, this might of been like this since I got the car as I've only ever used the fob so my boot door never locks with central locking I climbed in through the boot to find the doors still won't open even from inside from what I've read super lock? Anyway by this point the alarm is blaring I open the bonnet and disconnect and reconnect the battery and after a while the alarm stops and lets me open the doors from inside with the button on the dash but still won't start the car alarm still goes off every time I open a door and fob still not working.
Hoping someone might be able to help before I ring a dealer the car is used to get the dogs to work so this is becoming a big problem

I presume that you are talking about a Discovery 2, Td5 is an engine.

Your first action would be to replace the battery in the key fob. Use a good quality battery, not one of those "100 for a quid" jobs from your local low cost outlet. If that does nothing for you then you need to check the RF receiver for the central locking and you'll find that up in the roof space just in front of the rear sunroof, examine and clean the earthing bolt which can often clear the problem. The next thing to check is that the receiver is dry inside, moisture ingress can destroy the thing completely if it gets too bad.

The inability to use the driver's door lock sounds like somebody has changed the ignition lock barrel at some time and not bothered to keep the old keys. Until that lock is working you can't even use the Emergency Key Access (EKA) code, if you even know it. You should be able to obtain the EKA from any Land Rover main dealer.

There's plenty of alarm information written by @neilly at:-

Especially read the document "D2 Alarm issues rev.5 .pdf"

Thanks Brian I've managed to get the door lock to turn to the right(front of car) but have to jiggle it about a lot not smooth so very much doubt I'll be able to use it to put the code in won't turn left at all tried grafite spray, had the lining off the receiver seems dry but didn't check the earth so will do that next and will read through the link you provided it looks like I might have to get a locksmith out to change the barrel and then try the code.

And yes sorry it's the d2

Thanks for the info

Not sure to start a new post or not looking for more help with the above problem I've now managed to unseize the lock but now iv snapped the little pipe/bolt that goes from the inside of the barrel and attaches to the inside of the door could someone tell me can this be replaced on its own and if so how? And also what it's called
It's 3/4in and gold grass looking if that helps it turned when you turned the key before it snapped

It's got like funny star shaped end that attaches to the door end

Edit:

Looks like it is not the part I thought. Normally it is the longer rod that snaps.

You would be better off getting a second hand door handle and fitting that the lock is easy enough to change.

Cheers

Thanks neilly it's the pin in the link you posted(pin) so they can't be purchased on there own? Better getting a new handle and barrel
Thanks again for your help

You can get them, therhere should be a link in there that shows them for sale in Saudi. Available on the bay. But i would recommend buying a door handle or making your own.

Cheers
