So I went to check my drivers door to make sure it was OK if I ever needed to enter the EKA code. When bought the car the lock was seized and required a bit of penetrating oil to loosen up.
Normally it turns relatively easily, but I found it was a bit stiff. Then to my joy it went and moved easily....Too easily...

On disassembly, I found what can be seen in the picture showing the old pin...notice a bit of a problem??
The pin is visible here as part of the assembly CXB103030.

On investigation it appears to be quite a common occurrence, the pins are made of monkey metal so not going to weld back together. Plus it is not available as a separate part. So while searching for a new / 2nd hand door handle and having a mooch around the garage i came across a nail, although not quite long enough it gave me an idea.
Off to wickes ( other hardware suppliers are available) I purchased some 6mm x 150mm nails.
A little play with drill / files and little elbow grease and I made my own, although not pretty ( and frankly I do not care as it is inside the door ,if visible I would make a replacement with a bit more care and attention.)
So if it ever happens to you, it might be of help.
Have given it a good test and it works, so cannot complain.
