Hello my name is Odhran and im very new to landrovers, iv had old fords and VW's but have recently sold them. Ive always liked Defenders and have always wanted 1. Last weekend i bought a 1987 110!!!! I love it :D.

Now here is my problem, next year about 30 of my friends are driving around Europe in a whole range of very impractical vehicles and i want to bring my defender but im farely sure the 2.5 diesel wont be up to the trip(200,000 miles on the clock). So i was told a 200 TDI was a good choice for my defender.
Im wondering if anyone has any advice for me on what i should do or some possible pit falls of replacing the engine.

thanks everyone

Yor engine will be more than capable of completing the trip. These engines have crossed Africa and driven round the world. and there are no fancy electrics or gadgets to break. The engine is really easy to work on and you could give it a full strip down and rebuild if you wanted to. then it would be good for another 200,000 miles.
