Can anyone help me.
My discovery 4 has had a second hand fuel tank and pump changed and fuel filter changed but still does same as before. Does have fuel in but reads that there isn’t any in even tho it’s a different tank. Car will start but dips down on revs every 4 seconds after a minute it cuts out. Anyone know what it could be cos I’m at a loss. Tried to put a video on of what it’s doing but for some reason it won’t let me. Any advice would be greatful.

Thanks

Thats why I like Fenders ... 3 spanners and a hammer, the only elecytrics is the radio and i've taken that out...

Open a thread titled "DS4 owner near Nottingham seeks code reader help for cake and coffee" and explain the issue again, this will likely attract the right type of help :)

Plus 1 , regarding getting someone with a better code reader , it could be a few things causing that issue

hope ur able to find someone

I reckon the car is simply seeing there is no fuel on board and shutting down.
So ignore running issues, you need to sort the gauge/fuel reading issue first.
Could be as simple as mouse have eaten the wiring to the fuel sender.
As @gstuart above what colour the senders wires are and where they come in the car, then you may be able to test said wires without dropping the tank again.

Why would you change the fuel tank, unless it was leaking?
Have you checked that the tank pump is running at full pressure? It's pretty simple to get the live engine data from a simple OBD2 Bluetooth dongle, and read codes and live data off your smartphone, using a suitable diagnostic app. Torque is about the best for android, but if you have an apple, then there should be some app which is suitable.

Edited as i have now read the entire thread!

No this is a simple fix as the in tank pump has been changed, if the fuel sender was disconnected incorrectly then the fuel gauge reads empty.
It must be reset to tell the car it has fuel in it, this is an inbuilt failsafe device to protect both the hpfp and engine should it be run out of fuel
The bad news is its special gear main dealer only 99% of the time.

Somehow I knew a response like this would come up.
Modern vehicles, on some, even having all the electronics go without power in the 5 to 10 minutes it takes to change out a battery requires its own set of rituals, song and dance to get it going again.

Indeed, even changing a battery on the D4 requires the system to be told it’s been replaced

think they also specify not to run the fuel any lower than a 1/3
