well you can find discos from 1000 quid to 46000!
but for 7k youre prob looking at a late tdi say approx year 2000.
mileage can vary from 70k to twice that. shop around. check ebay for current prices.
theres a nice year 2000 (79k miles) on ebay right now, for about your budget.

ps,
just found two td5,s on ebay for about your budget. didnt know they were that cheap yet. last time i looked they were all above 10 grand!

Hi Dazzlin,

I'm in the same (ish) boat but have a smaller budget (about half yours).

What's the better disco to go for? a Mk1 or Mk2? Oh, and why?

Good luck with your quest Dazz.

Four kids & dog!Wow! I fill our's up with 3 kids and a few what knot's-7 seater is fantastic! put the sprogs in the boot and you and the Mrs up front like in the good old days with no screaming in your ear!!!!!

Just had 3 years of hell with an Audi with bloody air bag lights, dodgy electronics,EGR valves stuck open,Dicky Turbo's a right nightmare!!!! So have gone back to basics with a 1995 300tdi Disco and we love it,simple & easy to work on,great ride, roomy & you get to look in yeh neighbours gardens!!

Previously Tried a 2002 TD5 but didn't like it!

If this helps...

We recently picked up a SeriesII TD5 Manual on a T plate, Half leather, 7 seats, full Land Rover service history, reciepts for everything!, 2 owners, 1st Was landrover. 62k on the clock for £7.7k. Not a mark on it apart from a couple of car park dents!

Scratched the side to bug**ry in the first weekend of ownership on a tight greenlane, out with the T-Cut and the jar of elbow grease!

Lots more fun than you could possibly imagine, spent a whole weekend driving though all the fords we could find: www.myspace.com/battenberg72

Did our first off road camping weekend last week at Strata Florida, Stock vehicle, road tyres, plenty of water crossings and some nice little challenges. No probs, just plenty of smiling and "I cant believe what this car will do" comments...Dont get a people carrier, you will regret it...
