It's not necessarily the type of alarm that is the issue. It's more a case of being fitted by someone that knows defenders and their weak points in order to have it work to its full potential.

I had a good alarm fitted by a proper Landrover mechanic, make sure you do the same!:):tea:

Spend the cash on a good pedal lock plate, when was the last time anyone saw police respond to a car alarm going off.. from most posts I read and from seeing mates ripping their alarms out in frustration I wouldnt bother :)
My mates alarm (professionally fitted) kept going off when it was on his drive and he was away working, p*** the neighbours off no end, then when thieves broke in and tried to nick it they bypassed it without it making a sound, just f*** it up and screwed his locks gave up when the steering lock wouldnt break.

ok thanks reason I am asking is insurance have said it needs to have an alarm imoboliser in order for the theft part of the insurance? I never had this before when I owned a defender 200 1992 reg so whats the difference? both are easy to break into and nick aren't they?

when the insurance runs out in july I am going elsewhere anyway probably to someone who specializes in landys?

It's probably due to the number of landys being nicked at the moment.

Had this on some grey imports I had a while ago, had to get an immobiliser fitted to a Toyota Hiace to validate the insurance, but no probs with my ex mod 110 Landy, insured through Adrian Flux (with Equity Red star I think)
Previous insurer was Aviva and no prob with them either, maybe its the value of the vehicle.

As you're in Bradford, why not send Nrgserv in Shipley a PM? He'll probably know who and where if he doesn't do it himself.
