Anyone got a scrapper? I need a small piece of wood veneer trim, drivers side dashboard. Rave Page 933 please see attachment.
I cut holes in it to mount switches. First one okay, second a mess! To cap it all, switches to long to fit anyway Arrrrgh!
PM me with price if you have one.
Cheers chaps

Yeah - that bit of trim is a right pain to remove without breaking the studs off. Had to replace it on mine when I first got the car (be careful of a decent colour match of the veneer).

Anyway, I broke the studs despite removing from the doner vehicle in a breakers as carefully as possible.

Rescued the studs and araldited them back in place using clothes pegs to hold them in place whilst the glue cured. I did consider soldering but decided the solder would probably burn the veneer trim.

A blob of araldite isn't really strong enough, so I also poured a layer of glass-fibre resin into the back of the alloy casing the veneer is applied to (as much as I dared but not quite flush with the back of the casing in case it sat proud of the dash) and left it to set overnight before fitting the trim to the car.

It went back on alright, but I know that if I remove it again I'll have to repair it once more as the studs will undoubtedly snap off again.

Stupid piece of design!

Just a quick note to say I now have my replacement bit of trim. Very grateful to Michael (mgmayo) for sending it to me. My rangie is back to her beautiful self. Thanks again Michael.
