Need a bit of advice please.

Final got round to swapping my starter motor now that cash allows, got the one recommend in this thread when I 1st asked ages ago.

Now as we can see from the 1st pic, the new one is way smaller.



No so much an issue as long as it works.

But there was a bracket which attached to the end of the old one and mounted to the engine the new short one does not reach, was wondering does the bracket do any thing? or are the 3 big bolts in the end enough to hold it in place and its weight?



2nd and prob most important, was this earthing cable for the starter or the engine? Do I need to attach it back to the engine or the starter? as it was on the bracket.



Any advice would be or grate help as i really need to use this to get to work for the next two weeks.

Never mind, ran into a mechanic in the street and its all sorted. put the cable to the engine.

Prob got hit in the nuts .

TBH with ya I would of bolted it to the starter as thats the most power hungry thing on the engine .

hehe he was fine, he did run vw garage opposite my house but he shut it down, he just bought the house next door thou.

It started fine and did not blow up, the earth cable was on the engine side of the bracket so i am guessing it was ok where it was its in the same place its all ways been.
