Up **** creek.
Hi, wheres my closest ABS mech? Any old bloke with a T4 testbook and a laptop will do it doesnt have to be a LR specialist, the closest ive found so far is Shrewbury (about 2 hours drive away) I live near Barmouth, Gwynedd, North Wales. Postcode LL42 1RR. Cheers fellas!

already tried it a year ago, it kept reading wierd numbers that dont exist on the chart (such as 8-15!) thought i may aswel give it another try so i just did.

1st of all i couldnt find the ABS relay (i know its there as the mechanic that helped me last year found it and took it off -I suspect it has never been put back on.

I bridged the wires as directed anyway and was met with the following ABS codes:-

2-2 :- Doesnt exist!
2-8 :- In system relay, there is no solenoid valve supply.
3-8 :- The ECU connection or wiring to inlet, isolating, hydraulic modulator solenoid valve.
4-8 :- The ECU connection or short circuit to inlet, isolating, HMSV.
4-14:- Doesnt exist!
5-14:- Sensor or wiring on left hand front wheel speed sensor.
6-12:- Is no output or an air gap with right hand front wheel speed sensor.

Now i'm no mechanic, I can see I prob need new sensors on the front but can anyone tell me what 2-8,3-8 and 4-8 mean?!? what is a HMSV? And what about the 2 codes that dont exist? Even if i sort the other 5 problems will I still have my mystery codes showing up as faults?

So you've got your blink codes out, that's a start.

I'm not ABS eggspurt but have had a few fun and games with ABS on my RRC. Predominantly it looks like it would be sensible to chack all the wiring and connectors. I had a fault that I traced to a dodgey wire to the ABS relay (somebody had been in there before!) Have you done a search? I remember posting some ABS info a while back and there are lots of threads for ABS problems.

yeah ive really looked into this since I bought the car a year and a bit ago, its looking more and more like i'll have to get someone to look at it as i absolutely hate electrics and steer really clear of them, I was hoping that it would be a simple "that wheel sensor needs replacing" and a quick look on a breakers on ebay and hey presto kinda affair not a "sit there with multimeter jobbie" - ive never even picked one up, ive done all the work so far to my motor but electics are definately not my forte. (got zapped as a kid:()
