Hi,

I have an odd problem with my 2005 Freelander sport TD4 whereby the near side brake light is not working. The high level and off side lights work fine.

I tried the obvious and changed the bulb which didn't solve it. I put a meter across the contacts with the brake pedel depressed and got no reading.

I have a witter tow bar fitted and when plugged in, all trailer brake lights work fine.

The indicator in the cluster works fine too.

I did a continuity test across the connector and got a beep. Not being an auto electrician, i'm not sure if this is right or not.

My MOT is due at the end of the month so I really need to get to the bottom of this. Any suggests, advice or help your guys can offer would be great!!! :)

Thanks, Ian.

Are you sure the contact in the bulb holder is not dirty/broken.Mine broke in the rear and brake light. The first one I fixed with folded tinfoil ,the second one I fixed with a cut down spring c.5mm outside diameter, had to cut the plastic at the base of the bulb holder to bend up what was left of the contact.
If you've tried a metre on it,I'm sure you will have checked the condition of the contacts.
Please let us know how you get it fixed.
