Can anyone tell me where is the Land Rover Freelander Gearbox Neutral Safety Switch / Range Position Sensor is located , as I think it has gone out of alinement .

Thank you is there some where I can get a photograph of where it is so I can see how difficult it is to get to , is it from inside the car or from underneath?

The switch assembly is on the top of the gearbox.
In this picture, I've put a red dot on the gearbox switch.

This I a great help thank you , do you know if it is adjustable ? If it is where can I fine some information on it?
The switch is adjustable, it's mounting bolt holes are slotting to allow a few degrees of movement.
There is a setting tool for it though, so it remains in calibration with the parking pawl.
What is the issue you're having?

When I change the auto shift to ‘D’ the ‘N’ light come on at the shifter and I get F4 flashing and the HIll descent light comes on at the dashboard, if I then pull it back the shifter just slightly I get the ‘D’ on the dashboard but the hill descent light stays on but it won’t stay in D it goes back to F4 .
The car runs ok and I think I am getting all 5 gears. It won’t start in ‘N’ only in park . Does that make sense?

Ok. So it sounds like a cable issue, rather than a switch issue. There are gear position sensors at the bottom of the gear selector, in addition to the gear selector switches on the gearbox.
I suspect the cable has stretched slightly, causing a mismatch between the gear position sensors below the gear selector, and the switches at the gearbox end.

I'd try moving the cable a fraction at adjuster, and try it again.
I'd also check for corrosion on the multi-plug of the lever position sensor below the gear selector, as this has happened to mine in the past.

Thank you great advice, I will look today and let you know all you have detailed are relatively easy to explore so maybe even I can do it

Could you also assist me I have been working on the TD4 and could a filter at the back of the engine that is like a small fuel filter that is connected to a small rubber hose but it is not connected both ends . Do you know where is meant to go / to / from?

It's supposed to hang down the back, and is only connected at one end, the other end being left open to the air.
