Or the beefier version :D which is what I has going on the back of the series using a weld on adaptor plate with tapped holes

you know the measurement of the holes for that?

my x-member seems to have some holes with re-enforced tubes welded in and i'm thinking they are for that. the little version i've got is too small to fit.

Give me 10 mins, I'll measure up after I get dinner. Its only sat in the boiler room :) Although I'd think your x-member holes may be for a large drop plate not that.

That NATO hitch is designed to fit the rear of Bedford trucks

for a normal landy you need one of these

LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90/110 ex MOD NATO TOWING HITCH and fixings. | eBay

i have a nato hitch and they are great, you cant tow a sankey safely with anything else.

is what you dont want it this (unless your nuts like Dr Evil) as its to massive for a landrover as its off a lorry and wont fit
BRAND NEW NATO TOW HITCH- DIXON BATE 7.6 TON TOWING HITCH/ PINTLE-EX MOD ARMY | eBay

dont try to tow a nato sankey with a loop tow point with anything other than a nato hitch. as said earlier if the trailer hitch doesnt rotate then the hitch on the body MUST and vica versa or else the trailer could tip the tow vehicle over or break something if towing off road, the trailer need to move independently of the tow vehicle in all plains of movement

4" spacing centre to centre

ah right, deffo not these holes then :)

these holes are whatever the normal nato hitch width is by about 800mm down.

looks like i need to make an adapter plate.

hmm, how do you think i should do this?
does this still require a spreader with the way the tubes are welded?

mines non standard chassis holes afaik.

better pic

i'm wondering if i need a spreader plate with these tubes as it's tight on the rear.

I'm thinking, plate with some welded nuts on it.

the top two holes go through the rear chassis, nut+adapter and hitch.

bottom holes are hitch to adapter and another two for the adapter to chassis.

i wanna see a pic from further away with no hitch :)

i'll take it off tomorrow and grab a pic.

thinking about it, it did come with a large drop plate like evil said, and it's deffo a new xmember that's been welded on at some point.
