I want to upgrade the external lights on my 110 Defender 300tdi to LED without having to drill new holes in the bodywork.

I understand that RDX make some easy fit plinths for NAS LEDs that use existing holes.

Can anyone help answer the following questions:

  1. Do NAS LEDs mounted on these easy fit plinths overhang the body thus making the light vulnerable to damage?
  2. How do RDX NAS LEDs compare to WIPAC? Or should I be looking at other brands altogether?
  3. Will Wipac and/or other brand makes of NAS LEDs fit onto RDX plinths?
Thanks for any help and advice you can give.

NAS LED's are bigger than on your 300TDI and you will need to drill holes in the bodywork to fit the plinths !
I only fitted NAS fog and Reversing lights, But did not want to drill my body too. So I removed one bolt out of each plinth and refitted it to match the bodywork holes. See my other threads for pictures
I went down the original size led lights from RDX very good lights and no hassel fitting

PS. BUY the led light for your dash (£15) or you will get all your indicators flashing every time instead of just two

Thanks Foxyred I know the NAS are 95mm v bog standard 73mm, but on one thread in another forum I read about RDX making stepped plinths to overcome the drilling/overhang problem.

When you say LED light for the dash - do you mean the flasher unit or something else?

Just fitted the RDX lux ones from bolt on bits to my project I fitted the easy fit plinths took some photos for you.

I did have to drill to fit the front ones as mines a 200tdi and it has the 3 holes on the headlight mounting panel to fit the side and indicator lights as they fix to the body using 2 holes, but was easy enough to do brought the plastic fittings marked and drilled the holes then filled them out with a square file bit at a time, just kept trying the fixing in the hole till I got a snug fit.

Yes dash light is correct, My mate laughed his head off when I said I'd paid £15 for it, said I was ripped off. After he had forgot about it and spent 6Hrs looking for an earth fault ! I asked if he had fitted the dash light bulb ? 2 Min later plus red face and all indicators worked perfectly.
I'm still laughing a month later :D
