Good afternoon.

I have purchased a discovery axle for my 110 as my existing axle case is damaged. My radius arms are the narrow type, the new axle is the wide type. I don't wish to buy new arms to match, but need new bushes anyway. My question is, has anyone ever fitted newer, wider bushes to the arms to make up the missing 4mm? Or is fitting 2 2mm shims the better solution?

I did wonder about this, and searched a little, and found that the rating often disputed applies to the rear axle? I have a Salisbury fitted to the rear which is staying put. I only intend to use the main axle case from the front axle, which looks identical apart from the narrow/wide mounts.

I don't like the sound of this. Buy second hand wider arms. I recently had my rods replaced with second hand wider ones, a 20 tonne press couldn't get the old ones out of the narrow arms - you may find similar issues if you go ahead.

I think I will just get replacement arms. I don't want to bodge something especially as I plan on keeping it for a good few years. I'd never have put washers/shims in anyway. Too much fiddling about. Just thought having 2mm of bush sticking out each side may not cause any issues but suppose if I change them, I won't be thinking about it for ever more.

Have done this and just fitted spacers[on one side of each arm only [washers] original bolts were ok as nylock still engaged on the thred.
After doing every thing up spot welded spacers in place.

That how mine was when i stripped it down
either side the arm is a thick heavy duty washer
and its a right pig to get them back in a lined up
