Hi all
I’m looking for a code reader to use on my Discovery 2 V8 and understand that Nanocom can be used but with limited functions, but I can’t find any info on how limited. Has anyone used a Nanocom on a V8 and if so what function did you have? Will it read all codes that aren’t engine related?
Also can anyone recommend a reasonably priced reader that will work well on the V8? I’m not wanting to remap anything, just want to I be able to clear the intermittent reoccurring 3 amigos and possibly program a couple of new key fobs.
Cheers
Stuart

Look out for OBDII readers on fleabay, £30 or so with some software. Most run on a laptop and will give real-time engine data and some codes.

Intermittent Amigos is not a fault code that you can clear, and the fault itself is repairable by either changing the shuttle valve assy (Kit: LR £36 + VAT) or in addition doing the connection pin modification/resoldering which is documented here:

ABS Mod - Land Rover Club V.I.

We did the resoldering of the pins and fitted a new shuttle valve switch kit just before Xmas, kit part # is SWO 500030.

'Hard' 3 Amigos faults that don't go away on a restart are usually a sensor or wheel bearing or both.

We bought an OBDII reader that gives us a lot of info and allowed us to locate faulty Lambda sensors amongst other things, we also had to buy one for the Zavoli Multipoint LPG so we could look at that while the car is running.
