Hi everyone, riddle for you to solve! I park my 1.8 petrol on my drive at nighty, there is a slight incline to the drive, when I come out in the mornings there is always a small puddle of coolant under the offside wheel (looking at it from the front) I loose about half the coolant in the expansion tank every week. I done all the checks I can think of, no water in the rocker, non in the oil, no sign of HG failure, temps normal, funny thing is if I park it on the road which is flat I don't get a leak!! I know someone will say just leave it on the road but not round this neck of the woods believe you me!! thanks for any advice in advance.

Park it round the other way..
and see where the puddle accumulates,
may give you a comparison point??

just had an idea. Probably total crap but what if you put a color/die in the coolant to see where it is leaking? crappy idea would it work?

Thanks for the pointers on the coolant leak, checked the water pump, stone dry, would have thought the leak would show whether it was parked on the flat or incline if it was a leaking pump, gonna try your idea IndiTd4 as you say it would give a comparison point, weird but solvable I hope, I,ll keep you posted.

Do you know anyone with a coolant pressure tester? Pressurise it up and look fr where it's leaking?

Changing the height of the front of the Freelander changes the height of the bleeding valve near the firewall next to the coolant hoses going to the heater matrix. Is that bleeding valve leaking ?

Die colour test under pressure might me the only way. I have heard of folks needing 20 psi to find a leak.
